A fresh storm put the new pier to the test, and Bruno went out in the fierce wind to take a few pictures:
Bruno Wilmart braved rain and wind to keep us up-to-date on the progress of the reconstruction of the pier.
The deck has been completed, and, weather permitting, there is a chance that the new pier will be the Grandcopais' Christmas present.
In the mean time, the Christmas Village, in front of the old school, is waiting for the sun to shine again.
Bruno just sent us a few pictures of the new pier under reconsruction.
Despite the bad weather, the carpenters were able to add about 30 feet to the structure.
And now, it looks just like it did before!
Bruno sent us more photos of the reconstruction of the pier.
And, as promised, it looks very much like the original.
Work is progressing nicely on the new pier, as you can see in these pictures taken by Bruno Wilmart.
In Grandcamp, they are already thinking about spring, and they are growing the flowers that will brighten roundabouts and containers.
Bruno WIlmart paid a visit to the town greenhouse and came back with a few pictures.
As the last remains of the old pier are still lying on the beach, the new oak lumber has arrived, as witnessed by Jean-Jacques Pessaud.
The pier, damaged by last winter's storms, is being rebuilt.
But first, everything must come down...
Both locals and tourists follow the progress of the work with great interest, wondering how the new pier will look.
It is supposed to be faithfully rebuilt, all in oak, by the end of the year.
Jean-Jacques Pessaud and Bruno Wilmart were there with their cameras.
Repair work on the pier is scheduled to start by the end of the month.
In the mean time, Bertrand Valéry's photos show us the damage caused by last winter's storms.
The Grandcamp marina wakes up as the tide comes in. And as soon as the harbor gates open, it's rush hour traffic to get out and enjoy a day at sea.
Then, at the end of the day, all the boats rush in just before the closing of the gates.
Bertrand Valéry, the policeman of Grandcamp, sent these pictures taken this summer by Jean-Claude Célerin and Sandra, of the Tourist Office.
