L'Epi et les Photographes/ The pier and the Photographers

Voilà longtemps, le bord de mer était couvert de galets, qui se déplaçaient au fil des marées. C'est pour arrêter ce mouvement perpétuel que furent construits, dans la 2e moitié du XIX siècle, des « Epis brise-lames destinés à arrêter les mouvements de galet ».

Il n'en reste qu'un, qui date de 1881.

Au fil des ans, il a été allongé, élargi, partiellement détruit par les Allemands pendant la guerre, puis restauré dans les années soixante par les Chantiers Longuemare, qui construisaient des bateaux en bois à Grandcamp.

Avant la construction du port, l'épi servait au débarquement de la pêche, comme le montre cette photo de M. Jean Goron, photographe à Grandcamp:



Aujourd'hui, il protége toujours le bord de mer, et offre un sujet original aux photographes qui passent par Grandcamp.

Philippe Morel, sculpteur, photographe et auteur d'un blog sur Isigny, a vu l'epi du Perret:


Philippe Leclerc, photographe à Ifs, a préféré une longue exposition, et c'est une de ses photos favorites. M.Leclerc va exposer ses photos à Carteret à la Galerie De Lumière et de Vent du 2 au 15 Aout, puis à la Fête du Port à Caen les 13 et 14 Septembre.




Quant à nous, nous l'avons pris comme çà:

Once the beach in Grandcamp was covered with pebbles which the tides moved incessantly along the shore. Breakers were constructed in the second half of the 19th c to put an end to this perpetual motion.

Only one remains.

Built in 1881, it was lengthened, widened, partially destroyed by the Germans during World War II, and then repaired by the Longuemare Ship Builders of Grandcamp.

Before the harbor was built, the pier was used to unload the catch from the fishing boats. M. Jean Goron, photographer in Grandcamp, captured the scene.

Today, the pier still protects the waterfront, and catches the eye of the photographers who come to Grandcamp.
