L'été dernier, nous avons rencontré d'anciens Grandcopais qui ne se souvenaient plus qu'il y avait une pompe à eau au Musoir. Autrefois, les matelots, quand ils étaient à terre, se retrouvaient au coin de la Grande-Rue et de la Rue des Dames pour bavarder, ou "muser" en vieux Normand, d'où le nom de Musoir. Puis, nous avons trouvé la photo de Claude et de son auto devant la fameuse pompe, et nous l'avons mise sur ce blog le 3 Novembre. Ce qui a conduit Jean-Claude Célerin à fouiller ses archives, où il a déniché ces vieilles cartes postales du Musoir et de la pompe. Un grand merci à Jean-Claude!
Last summer, we had several conversations with former Grandcopais who did not recall the water pump that once stood at the Musoir. In the old days, the town's fishermen, when not at sea, used to gather at the corner of Rue Aristide Briand and Rue du Docteur Boutrois to chat or "muser" in the local patois, giving the corner its name "Musoir".
We then found an old photo of Claude at the Musoir playing next to the pump (see post of November 3, below) This prompted Jean-Claude Celerin to search his archives where he found several other images of the Musoir and its iconic pump and we are posting them here. Thank you Jean-Claude!
