Quand les touristes sont partis, les crevettes sont arrivées en masse dans les rochers de Grandcamp.
Et Claude Lecourtois est allé à la pêche. Il nous écrit:
Cette année, à partir de septembre il y a eu énormément de bouquet et du beau. Personnellement je n'avais jamais vu ça. J'ai fait des marées de plus de 2 kgs. Certains, surtout les plus jeunes, ont fait des marées de 3 kgs, voir plus. C'était vraiment exceptionnel. L'engouement était tel que les gens allaient à la crevette au boutou la nuit avec des lampes frontales.
Puis un coup de vent d'amont a mis fin à ces pêches " miraculeuses ".
After the tourists have departed, multitudes of shrimp appear among the low outcrop of rocks in the bay of Grandcamp. Our correspondent, Claude Lecourtois, with a bountiful harvest in mind, grabs his boutou and sets out over the wet sands, laid bare by the fleeting tides. The boutou is a handheld net designed to push along the sea floor and is ideally suited to catch shrimp.
Claude tells us: "Beginning in September, this year has been terrific for shrimp - and what beauties! I have never seen such a harvest! I had catches of more than 4 pounds. Some, especially, the younger ones, often caught over 6 pounds. It was truly exceptional. There were those who even went fishing at night, using headlamps.
But alas, a nor'easter came through and put an end to all these miraculous catches."
